Linguistic and Sports Programs at LFIGP

Conformément aux objectifs de l’AEFE, la promotion de l’éducation plurilingue est au cœur de notre projet éducatif.
Notre école met l’accent sur l’enseignement du français tout en l’intégrant harmonieusement avec l’apprentissage d’autres langues vivantes, dans le but de former des élèves plurilingues, ouverts à la diversité culturelle.
La pédagogie mise en place vise à renforcer la maîtrise d’au moins trois langues, en plus du français, afin de préparer nos élèves au mieux à leurs études supérieures, à leurs projets professionnels et à leur futur de citoyens dans un monde globalisé. Dans cette optique, notre programme soutient l’apprentissage des langues anglaise, arabe, allemande et espagnole.

Sports studies at LFIGP

Le LFIGP s’engage également à offrir un éventail de parcours sportifs, permettant aux élèves de développer leurs compétences physiques et de participer à des activités sportives tout au long de leur scolarité.
Nous proposons des parcours spécifiques en football et natation, disponibles dès le CM1 et qui se poursuivent jusqu’en Première. Ces parcours sont conçus pour favoriser l’épanouissement des élèves dans un environnement sportif stimulant et inclusif.
The goal is to allow each student to commit to a sport and cultivate essential values such as teamwork, perseverance, and discipline.
These sports activities perfectly integrate into our broader educational approach, enhancing the preparation of our students for a balanced and dynamic future.

A L’ÉCOLE MATERNELLE

The Lycée Français International Georges Pompidou (LFIGP) offers diverse linguistic pathways tailored to each level of the Kindergarten School, providing children with a rich multilingual environment.

Petite Section (PS)
In the Petite Section, students join the Section Internationale Français Renforcé (SIFR) from their first year. This pathway allows them to follow the French National Education program while benefiting from 3 hours of English per week, thus providing early exposure to a foreign language.

Moyenne Section (MS)
In Moyenne Section, students who have acquired sufficient proficiency in French may join the Section Internationale Anglais Renforcé (SIAR), which includes more hours of English.
The second pathway offered, similar to PS, is the Section Internationale Français Renforcé (SIFR), with 4 hours and 30 minutes of English per week. All students in Moyenne Section also start learning Arabic with 45 minutes of instruction per week, broadening their linguistic horizon.
Tous les élèves de Moyenne Section découvrent également l’arabe avec 45 minutes d’enseignement par semaine, élargissant ainsi leur horizon linguistique.

Grande Section (GS)
The pathways in Grande Section are similar to those in Moyenne Section. All students continue learning Arabic, with 1 hour and 30 minutes per week, further strengthening their linguistic skills.

These linguistic pathways aim to enable each child to thrive in a multilingual environment, offering them a solid foundation for their academic and cultural future.

The Lycée Français International Georges Pompidou (LFIGP) offers a linguistic organization tailored to each level of elementary school, enabling students to acquire bilingual skills. Students can follow pathways in Section Internationale Français Renforcé (SIFR) or Section Internationale Anglais Renforcé (SIAR), depending on their needs.

Arabic learning is mandatory starting from Grande Section (GS), with 1 hour per week, continuing until the Third grade.

Linguistic Pathways:

SIFR 4 hours and 30 minutes of English and 15 hours of French in CP (first grade), with 3 hours of English and 14 hours and 45 minutes of French from CE1 (second grade) to CM2 (fifth grade).
SIAR 9 hours of English and 12 hours of French in CP, with 9 hours of French and 9 hours of English from CE1 to CM2.

Arabic as a Foreign Language (ALE): :

Available at beginner and advanced levels, and mandatory until Third grade.

Arabic as a Native Language (ALM): For Arabic-speaking students, more intensive instruction is provided until Terminale (final year of high school).

Islamic Religion: Mandatory for Muslim students, with age-appropriate and level-appropriate courses.

At the end of Cycle 2 (CE2), a skills assessment is conducted to determine whether the student will continue in the Section Internationale studies.

Upon entering middle school, students can enroll in either an "international section" linguistic pathway or the optional "Euro" program

British international section

Starting in 6th grade, students in the British International Section receive additional instruction in English literature (4 hours per week) and a foreign language (2 hours per week).

History and geography are taught partly in English (1.5 hours per week out of 3 hours).

At the end of 6th grade, a placement test is held, and a B1 level is required to join the international section in 5th grade.

The middle school curriculum culminates in the DNBi!

In 10th grade, students will take the IGCSE exams and, at the end of the year, choose between:

BFI bilingual: 4 hours of English literature, 2 hours of "world knowledge" in English, and 1.5 hours of history-geography in English.
BFI trilingual: 4 hours of Spanish literature, 2 hours of "world knowledge" in English, and 1.5 hours of history-geography in English.

At the end of this pathway, students will obtain the French International Baccalaureate, a valuable qualification for higher education.

European section

Throughout their education, students in the European section receive an additional 2 hours of English instruction:

In 6th grade, this includes a Euro workshop followed by European Language and Culture.

In high school, students choose a Non-Linguistic Discipline (DNL), which involves 2 hours per week in either mathematics or history-geography, depending on their choice.

At the end of this pathway, students who meet the requirements (at least 12 in English and 10 in DNL) can earn a "European mention" on their baccalaureate.

Modern languages

Continuing from primary school, all middle school students receive Arabic instruction from 6th to 3rd grade.

From 5th grade onward, students add a third language to their studies: German or Spanish.

In high school, students choose two languages (LVA and LVB), with the third language (LVC) being optional.

Note: For students from Arab League countries, Arabic instruction is mandatory until the final year of high school.
