Les 18 et 20 avril, les élèves des 2 CP bilingues d’Academic City ont retrouvé des élèves de 1ère S pour se livrer à des expériences scientifiques !
Un bonne façon de développer les échanges entre petits et grands du LFIGP…
Depuis plusieurs années, le programme « Tiny little things » tend à favoriser les échanges entre petits et grands, à travers des expériences scientifiques.
Comment intéresser « les petits » autrement, créer du lien en pratiquant l’anglais et responsabiliser les “plus grands” ?
Grâce à une démarche d’investigation, chaque élève a pu approfondir sa compréhension des objets et phénomènes qui l’entourent, développer sa curiosité, sa créativité et son esprit critique.
Cet atelier a notamment permis aux plus petits de :
– Découvrir la notion de grandeurs à travers un nouvel environnement « l’infiniment petit » dans le monde du vivant,
– Trouver un point commun à tous les êtres vivants,
– Découvrir le microscope et son utilisation,
– Acquérir quelques mots de vocabulaire scientifique,
– Développer le sens de l’observation,
– Percevoir le lien entre sciences et techniques,

On Tuesday and Thursday, the LFIGP 1ère S students came to visit the CPD4 and CPD5 bilingual classes with their microscopes and lab material under the supervision of their science teacher and his assistants to introduce our next science topic about how to promote good hygiene practice and its importance through interesting manipulations and experiments .
Children of this age are not really aware of little living things that can not be seen with their own eyes. We keep telling them to wash their hands to get rid of germs, but they need to realize that these tiny little things are all over the place and do truly exist around them.
The workshop conducted was challenging as older students had to deal with much younger ones, had to adjust to another age and play a different role as guides under the supervision of their own teachers. But they succeeded in establishing a confident and helpful relationship, and managed to make out of this exchange a genuine and fruitful experience at all levels.
CP children were very impressed. For the first time they had experiments out of their usual classroom environment and with material “real scientists use”. In spite of their extreme excitment they soon were carried away by the amazing things they witnessed with their own little eyes. 1ère S students very soon had to face 101 questions the younger ones were eagger to ask!
