Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach English Literature and Language in the International Section at secondary level (Middle and High School)
  • Prepare and deliver engaging lessons in line with the French curriculum and the requirements of the International Section
  • Contribute to the development of students’ linguistic, literary, analytical and intercultural skills
  • Prepare students for French national examinations and international section assessments
  • Ensure compliance with the recommendations and regulations of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority
  • Foster a student-centred and communication-based approach to learning
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse and multicultural student body
  • Regularly assess students’ progress and implement positive and constructive assessment practices
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records through the school’s digital platforms (gradebook, lesson plans, reports, etc.)
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, pedagogical coordination and school projects
  • Contribute to the creation and sharing of teaching resources and best practices
  • Propose and develop innovative educational and cultural projects linked to literature, language and international mindedness
  • Support and implement the school’s educational policy and institutional decisions
  • Promote the pedagogical values of the French education system and the AEFE network
    (Agence pour l’enseignement français à l’étranger)

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of English Literature and Language teaching methodologies
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing and supporting students for IGCSE English Literature examinations within an international academic environment.
  • Ability to design engaging and academically rigorous lessons adapted to students’ profiles and needs
  • Ability to foster critical thinking, textual analysis and effective communication skills
  • Strong classroom management skills, combining high expectations with a supportive approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an international and multicultural environment
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Excellent command of English (native speaker level required)
  • Good understanding of educational technology and digital learning tools
  • Creativity, initiative and commitment to pedagogical innovation
  • Professionalism, adaptability, team spirit and commitment to student success

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, English Language, Education or a related field
  • Teaching qualification/certification preferred
  • Previous experience teaching English Literature and/or English Language at secondary level
  • Experience teaching within an international school environment highly desirable
  • Previous experience in a French international school and/or within the AEFE network would be an asset
  • Knowledge of the French education system and international section expectations appreciated
  • Experience working in multicultural environments strongly valued
