JOB MISSION AND ACTIVITIES
The substitute primary school teacher – English is responsible for:
  • Ensuring the replacement of absent English teachers, following the French National Education curriculum.
  • Carrying out individual pedagogical follow-up with students, including correcting notebooks, assessments, and maintaining communication with families, for the classes they are temporarily in charge of.
  • Taking responsibility for students while adhering to the school’s guidelines (safety, supervision).

In cases where there is no teacher to replace at the school, under the direct authority of the principal, the teacher may:

  • Take charge of student groups in multi-level or small-group sessions;
  • Implement class projects;
  • Support the regular teacher in the classroom.

The weekly schedule will be set by the principal in accordance with teacher regulations.

The substitute teacher commits to regular self-training according to the needs of the school.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Designing lessons within a curriculum and creating exercises adapted to the class and students.
  • Being able to convey theoretical knowledge and provide methods for acquiring it.
  • Being enthusiastic and organized in teaching.
  • Managing a class with both flexibility and firmness.
  • Being able to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Good presentation and excellent command of the French language are required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s in Teaching, Education, and Training.
  • Responsible, rigorous, with strong organizational skills.
  • Dynamic, available, loyal, with excellent interpersonal skills, listening, and understanding to work effectively in a team.
  • Knowledge of the AEFE network is a strong asset.
  • Capable of:
    • Demonstrating both high expectations and kindness toward students.
    • Adapting to newly English-speaking students and students with special educational needs (EBEP).
    • Being accountable.
    • Quickly adapting to different teaching contexts and grade levels.

Candidates interested in this position need to be qualified and experienced teachers. Experience teaching in kindergarten would be particularly beneficial. Candidates should also be very flexible and interested in working with a French teaching partner. An ability to speak French would be much appreciated.
